67 GT500 Throttle Return Spring and Bracket
« on: October 30, 2015, 01:39:55 AM »
In checking my collection of engine photos I can't figure out what is supposed to be correct? (attached variations)  I see some cars without a bracket and spring.  I see cars with a blue or silver colored bracket attached to the intake manifold with two bolts.  On other cars I see a bracket coming off of one of the carb hold down bolts.   What is correct or is it dependent on build date?  Does anyone supply the correct bracket and/or spring?

Just as a general practice it would be good to know when you car was built - So many running changes in 67, there car often be 2 or 3 different answers depending on when the car was built at Ford  and even Shelby - as well as other factors.

Will look through my stuff since it appears you've been looking at have been played with or somewhat  restored at some point

On the 67 GT500 the silver bracket held with two bolts on the rear of the intake is the correct method. A specific spring  is used . Both can be purchased from Mansfield Mustang if you are missing the original one.

Bob, in another thread for a 67 small block with a 4 barrel, you thought these were the same at the GT500 but nobody seems to be sure.

I am not trying to derail the thread, but attempting to link possible sources together for hard-to-find items like these. (while at the same time, I am looking to confirm one of these and WHAT SPRING to use that would be correct for a 289 4V with 4300 carb  ???  ;)  ::)

A picture of it on the Mustang application can be seen in Manials book. I am not sure on the spring but suspect it too is there someplace. Mansfields Mustang bracket  may or may not be identical including makers mark. It has been brought to my attention that the mansfield bracket may not be precise as it could be. Ask questions when purchasing to confirm. The MFG of the correct bracket is R+A Motorsport 816 246 9094 .

It is nether. It was originally plated a zinc silver.
