4100 Autolite Carburetor code
« on: October 25, 2015, 06:23:50 PM »
Hello, I have a question relating to a carby on my 66 GT A code. It has a code on the base stamped into it that reads  C6AFAA. I cannot determine what this carby was on originally, or if it is the correct carby for my vehicle.
if any one can help that would be great.
Please let me know if you require any more info.
Thank you.

By the numbers posted appears to be a replacement and not original to your car.

Books show a C6AF-A as an original for a full size car's 289 4V carb with a manual trans

The part number in question and answer don't match. C6AF-AA is a 2100 for a full size Ford, AT and smog. C6AF-A is 2100 for a full size Ford, MT, no smog. Go back and look at the base and ask again.

Thanks. Checked again and yes I had the 2100 page rather than the 4100 one :(

This carb is a four barrel... I'm very new to ford stuff, but I was of the belief that the 2100 was a two barrel carb?
And what is a full size ford?
Thanks again

And what is a full size ford?

LTD and Galaxie would be two examples of full size Fords

I need to know with 100% certainty.
Thankyou

Sure. It should be a C6ZF either a -D for a manual transmission or a -E for an AT. It is determined by transmission. Note the "Z". Your DSO is Los Angeles so you get a smog carburetor, with the appropriate smog stuff. Non-smog are a -A for the MT, and a -B for an AT. The -C and -F are used on 66 and some 67 289 HP engines, plus most of Shelby GT350H's.

For the record, where are you in Australia? You got a lot of "mates" on the forum.

austr6.

I am almost certain I have a restored C6ZF-D (manual with Californian smog) and also a unrestored C6ZF-E (automatic with Californian smog) in stock at present.

so both bases are covered, drop me a email; outlaw@hn.ozemail.com.au
and I will send you pictures and information.

Thank you Phill, i will record your email details and will be in contact.
One more question, does it absolutely 100% have to be a smog equipped car as there is no evidence of smog equipment ever being fitted to it???

According to search and research the C6ZF-B Excluded TE (thermactor Emissions)? Someone here know something different?

Also, what Mustangs received the C6ZF-B carburetors?  A codes?
Thanks

I believe the correct code for TE and automatic trans should be C6ZF-E. The C6ZF-B would indeed be for an "A" code car as this denoted a 289-4v car, with an automatic trans (non-TE).
