Need help identifying correct snorkel for 68 390

While I've spent the last year restoring a 68 Mustang, I accept the fact I am no expert and refer to the many, verifiable, Mustang aficionados in this forum.
Recently, much to my dismay and disappointment, I was told my engine has the wrong air cleaner snorkel on the car.  Specifically, the angle of the snorkel bends the wrong way.  In fact, I was told it's for a Thunderbird and not for a Mustang.  Dam, was this guy right?  Did I somehow end up with the wrong part?  See picture.
Need help.....

1968 Mustang 390 S-Code with GT 4V engine
Built in San Jose in Dec 1967
Has emissions, AC, Power Steering, etc.

Thanks for the reference.  I've seen this page and am familure with the referenced pictures (attached).
However, if all we're going on is the picture showing three different snorkels, it really doesn't answer the question by simply having the words "390 standard" on the ID card.  Standard what...Mustang, Ford, truck?   
What 390 engine configuration...emissions, non-emissions, etc?  I guess I'd like a bit more information before I go make a $$$ purchase.

I've run across that photo before. Not especially helpful. Good news, your snorkel looks like the correct one for a '68 S code motor. The photo below is from WCCC, and although it's listed for Cougar, it is the same one used for Mustangs.

Also, the overall length should be 9-1/2 inches.

Allot of cars out there "lost" their air cleaners and heat shields early in life so allot of them today have parts from other vehicles - especially it seems 68 and 69 S codes.

This has been a reoccuring question for those owners over the years along with the year specific heat shields :(

So here are a few examples from unrestored cars I found

8R01S1033xx - Messed with car  (repaint and decals at least :(





8R02S1077xx - Appears to be original



8R01S1145xx - Repaint but no new and incorrect decals





8F03S1143xx - Hard to tell how much is cleaning but a few things have been changed



Should muddy the water a bit.

Well, I think after looking at the examples Jeff provided, it seems most likely I do not have the correct snorkel.
I guess I'm in the market for a forward-angled snorkel.

The base actually fits very nicely on the carb and centered with the snorkel connecting to the s-tube.  The s-tube fits inside the snorkel opening...if that makes any difference.  I read on another site tonight that the s-tube should fit "over" the snorkel opening.  Not sure if this is makes a difference in determining the right part...?

Do you have this style of heat shield? Note the rear mounting tab that extends past the edge of the shield (needs repair on this one).

Yes, I believe it is the same I have installed, see pic prior to installation.

From my measurements the snorkel offsets are about 1/2". That's a 1" difference between a forward and a rearward snorkel. At a 16" distance from the carb stud, a 1" movement works out to about 3.5 degrees of rotation.

Don't recall any application where the S tube fits inside the opening in the snorkel.

All right, again, I'm convinced I have the wrong snorkel....dam, that guy was right. 
You guys on this site are quite amazing and I tip my hat to the the expertise this site attracts. 

Ok, anyone have a correct 68 390 snorkel for sale, forward bent angle of course......?

8R01S108459 from a recent auction. A few things like plug wires and hoses have been replaced, and the smog parts are gone, but the wear on the air cleaner is consistent with the rest of the engine compartment.
