NOS k-code air filter
« on: October 18, 2015, 08:14:55 PM »
Question: Were original open air filters on Hipo
Engines really orange with small round holes as the re-pops?

I just purchased an air filter that has a light FoMoCo and number on the inside of the paper filter.  The edges are black instead of orange and the outside mesh is more of an open diamond pattern than round holes.
The number looks like B7S-9601-A
I have a July 20 66 build date.  Is this a correct filter or not?
Thanks in advance.

Original from the period

NOS

And a NOS 67 version

Sure Charles has a bunch of pictures

Sounds like you may have found an original(NOS) 57 T bird filter

Original 65 /66 hipo air filter elements were not black or orange but a burgundy color as in Jeffs picture. They transitioned to orange sometime in 67 production.
