Temp sending unit issue
« on: October 16, 2015, 04:38:27 PM »
Was there some type of threaded adapter (sleeve) that was used with a C5DZ-10884-A temp sending unit?  My intake manifold is a 5 April 65 C5OE-C intake which should take that smaller diameter sending unit, I think.  The problem is it is too small and the larger diameter sending unit actually fits fine.  However, the larger ones are not called for until after 9/1/65 so something is wrong.  I have heard that there might have been an adapter or sleeve that was put in the manifold to allow use of the smaller diameter unit.  All my previous experience has been with 66 manifolds so I'm not sure.  Can anyone shed light on this?  Thank you.

Yep, there is an adapter you can use for that to reduce the size to accommodate the smaller/earlier sending unit. I don't have access right now to my book, but here's a reference to it for you (from Bob Mannel's wonderful book):
