Radiator Support Date Stamp ?
« on: October 12, 2015, 03:12:01 PM »
After being told where to look, below the battery tray and behind the lateral brace, I found a date stamp on the radiator support for my 65.  This radiator support frame is most likely a service replacement.  It does not have the fog light harness holes punched out so makes me suspect it is part of the left front damage repair done long ago.  I don't know any of this for sure so a little help with the date and maybe an opinion ?  Thanks,  Brian

The first picture seems to show plug welds at the bottom of the core support. Not sure exactly what to make of the date code, but your replacement theory seems to be likely.

Looks like 'A 62'?  If so, definitely a service replacement date code.  Should be obvious that the panel was replaced with a little detective work.  You'll hardly ever see one spot welded properly.

Thanks for taking a look and sharing your thoughts.  Looks like ' A 82 ' to me.  This is the second part so far with the Ford Service Replacement Part Code on it that I have on my car.  The other is the hood with a ' A 65. ' stamp.  The A stamp was for 65 only or body style 65-66 ?  B would be for 67-68 ?  The number portion has no identifiable meaning ?  The actual C5ZZ part number would have been paint/stenciled onto the red or black primer sheet metal ?  A car with these FORD service parts would be entered in Restored/Driven /  Brian

It's just a substitute for a normal date code.  Not sure that the meaning is relevant.

...relevant ?  I guess that means ' like whatever.'  Brian

Just considering that it does not match the expected original format of assembly line sheet metal.  I've always thought it was just a generic code, probably intentional to identify the part as a service replacement.
