4.1 Liter Special - info wanted
« on: October 07, 2015, 02:04:04 PM »
I was able to procure a 1969 4.1 Liter Special this summer. I saw it on ebay in 2005 when I didn't know what it was and found it again this year on Craigslist this summer. attached is a picture of it in 2005 when it was wearing the correct shade of orange (WT5108) and correct black racing mirrors. Now it is a terrible burnt orange and the buck tag is broken of it.

With the car in my possession I've been digging into the 4.1 Liter Special promotion and am coming up dry. All I have is my Marti Report and what I've learned from Don Sheldon, who owns the green one.  All I know is that it was a promotion in the Indianapolis area (May 1969) and there were 150 of them. Colors were green, orange and yelllow. The info at Mustang Attitude is not completely correct and there appears to be no way to contact them.

I've been combing through Indianapolis newspapers of the period and have found nothing that refers to the promotion. There was no mention of the promotion even in the ads for the dealer that my car came from (Fairway Ford, Anderson, IN). They were pushing the new Maverick.

I tried contacting the Indiana Mustang cliub, but have not gotten any replys.

Does anyone out there have any more info? Seen an ad?

thanks
Chris
