Early 68' reflector indents. What to do...
« on: September 23, 2015, 08:43:05 PM »
My 68' 390GT FB has had the rear quarters replaced by the previous owner (still in primer), however as was normal until the new early 68' quarters became available, its missing the reflector indents that I need. Not really wanting to replace the brand new quarters, and with an absence of Mustang wreckers down here in OZ, what would forum members recommend? Is there a rear section of the early 68' quarters available? Or is there a pattern around that can be replicated then installed? Have all the gear to transplant them, but don't have the bespoke skills to fashion new indents from sheet metal.

Views appreciated. Thanks.  8)

Which side of OZ are you? I'm in Perth.

you can come measure mine if you are local. maybe ask someone on a local forum if they have replaced a 68 rear quarter and still have the indents they aren't putting back on it.

I would find someone really good with metal work and replace just that area.

Good metal workers can make the repair just about invisible

Thanks Tim, I'll check them out.  :)

There are of course plenty of parts suppliers over here on the east coast, the big thing is whose got an early 68 FB panel or body they will let me paw over...

True enough, have known such craftsman in the past, but don't know anyone that good around here yet.
If I can at have a look at a bare panel that would help no end. A few choice photos and measurements is all one needs...
The other alternative is asking a US based wrecker to cut out and post those indented sections.
Anyone stateside able to recommend someone?
