Fall,Winter storage windows cracked or closed

I'm looking for advice for Nov to April storage. 67 fastback,  Location: Southern N.J. Attached garage.  Should the windows cracked? Or vent wings cracked. Interior restoration finished this past Spring/Summer.

Will you be using the garage for other vehicles? Parking a wet vehicle (snow/ice/mud, even rainwater) in a shared space will create a bunch of water vapor to deal with. Keeping the windows closed should minimize how much of that gets into the interior. But that moisture is going to affect exposed metal under the car and in the engine compartment a lot more severely.

Thanks: Fortunately the other bay is occupied by my Son's  87 Buick Grand National. It's  not running currently (engine work). The garage doors will only be opened briefly throughout storage.

If your garage floor is not sealed, you may want to consider putting down a floor protector such as G-Floor.  It acts as a vapor barrier.

I keep my windows rolled up tight, keeps dust and "things" out.  The biggest problem you will have is condensation on metal parts as it gets cold and humidity comes in behind the cold.  Flash rust can happen overnight it seems, as well as corrosion on wet aluminum parts too.  Not much you can do except install a dehumidifier.
I don't always downshift, but when I do it is near a Prius so they can hear me hurting the environment.

Temp swing from 20 one day to 60 and raining the next...the inherent condensation that comes will never touch your car.

What a great idea! Pay attention to their caution about not washing the car immediately prior to storage. If the bag keeps moisture out, it will also keep it in. If there's enough you can still get evaporation/condensation cycles. Don't seal it up on a really humid day  ;)

I've used a CarBag on my '70 Mach 1 for years and would swear by its ability to preserve the car while in storage. Not only does it keep moisture at bay (using the desiccant as prescribed), but it keeps mice away. All you do is unzip it, lay it down flat, drive your car over the bottom part, remove the car's battery, slide a desiccant canister underneath the car, put a cloth cover over the car, a provide protector over the antenna tip (to keep it from poking through the bag, pull the remaining bag over the top of the car, and zip it up.

The bag will last for years with a little caution. Be sure there's nothing on the floor to poke holes in the bag as you drive over it. I throw down a tarp and carpet to protect the bag and that's worked very well. It's easy to use a little duct tape to patch the bag if it comes down to it.

They are in the neighborhood of $200-$300, but you should check on the website to see. FYI - I've always had good luck reaching them by phone with questions. Great people to deal with!

I believe the bag comes with a bunch of palm-sized paper packets of desiccant, but that you can order a much more convenient canister (about 6" diameter, 2+ feet long) separately. They can both be re-used indefinitely by going through an easy oven-baking process, just before you're ready to put them into use. The packets are cut open and dumped into your own tray for baking and re-use (you then use the tray full of it under your car), but the canister can just be placed into the oven (your kitchen oven and no it won't smoke up the house or make a mess), baked, and then wrapped in aluminum foil to keep it sealed before you're ready to use it. You need it put it into use very soon after baking through. CarBag provides all this information in detail.

I actually use both a tray full of the desiccant and a canister, as you can never have too much!

+1 On the dryer sheets. The critters seem to hate them. ;)

I like to close my doors on the first click while in storage. (With car cover, and indoors). I feel like it offers a bit of air circulation, plus it keeps the seals from taking a "set". My 2 cents.

That is superior to mothballs, but probably not as long lasting.
I don't always downshift, but when I do it is near a Prius so they can hear me hurting the environment.
