Tape on 1969 tail light bezels
« on: September 08, 2015, 10:30:09 PM »
I have noticed tape on some 1969 Mustang tail light bezels, such as the 1969 Boss 429 in the attached picture.  I also have a 1969 Boss 429 built on May 14, 1969.  Should it also have tape on the bezels?  Was this left over from protecting the tail light assembly to keep dirt out before assembly?  What size of tape should be used if any at all?

Thanks,

Wade

Yes often seen on 69 Mustangs - common thought is that it might have been used to keep things out during transport from supplier/subcontractor. Believe allot of these were removed when the taillights were installed and the bulb holder was installed.

Not sure if any judge currently is deducting for them not being in place.

As for the thickness of the tape don't have a 69 at home with the tape or with the "left over" adhesive to measure at the moment
