1969 Mystery Holes...?

Can someone please take a look at the attached picture and tell me what these two holes are for? Is something supposed to actually be bolted into these? Is there a cover of some sort that covers it? What is the function? Thanks in advance.

Well not real sure what I am looking at so...  This is a picture of a 69 Left Side rear door/jamb frame for comparison.  Brian

For the window stop on a coupe or convertible, there is a cover plate painted body color with two holes drilled in it that covers the oblong holes.

Hey great! Thanks a bunch for the quick reply. Any idea where I could find one of those cover plates? Do any of the Mustang Parts Catalogs sell something like that? Can't say that I've seen those before...

Looks like you have a B pillar from a coupe or convertible and those two holes - hold part of the window mechanism in place (to the body)

Those two holes would have two zinc/cad bolts holding an adjustment plate much like you will find on the top inner surface of the door - all body types


Notice also that the slot at the top (in this case for the window not the little quarter window pivot in Brian Conway's example.

Someone much have used a donor car (different body type) if this is on your Mach I as shown in your signature

Thanks Jeff. The car in question is actually a 1969 Fastback. There wasn't any real sign of previous work done on it but perhaps you're right. It must have been replaced at some point if that was supposed to only be that way on the coupes/convertibles. I appreciate the feedback!

Any chance it's a coupe that was converted to a fastback? (yeah, I know how far-fetched that sounds!)

I know that the 1970 coupe and convertibles have the vent in the 'B' pillar, doesn't the sport roofs have it too?

Happens all the time- can get confusing when things dont' all match up

Would not be that odd for someone rebuilding a body to end up with 70 panels on a 69 or there other way around if they don't know the details
