I was pretty confident that the hinges and springs would have been painted semi-gloss black. I was looking for validation. Thanks, much appreciated. As far as the build date goes, I'm not going by the warranty plate. When the car was purchased by my dad back in 1980 the original doors were long gone and replaced with doors from a 66 Fastback. By looking at the date codes stamped in the sheet metal, the VIN and with the help of the folks on this forum, I came up with an approximate build date September 2, 1965. Here's the thread if you care to read it: http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=10271.msg61062#msg61062
I believe the general consensus is that change over from painted to phosphate and oil was in late September 64 through October 64 time frame.
Which plant?Don't think I've seen October San Jose examples in black originally
What would and October 64 San Jose car have typically Jeff? Oct 9, 64 build date, K code.
