1965 289 Single Exhaust Pictures
« on: August 02, 2015, 06:12:04 PM »
Hi everyone,

I appreciate if someone can place some pictures of the original 1965 Single Exhaust that came within the factory.... specially I want to see pics from the right hanger (the one of the pic I attach). I want to see the exact location and details of it.

Thank you

I'm sure I've saved these pics from previous posts (try using the search for text details to go along with them) but these are what you're after...

You didn't include plant or time period so just throwing on example out there

Original - from one of Mike M's great cars. This one happens to be an Aug 64 Dearborn  example.
Hope its at least close to your car though the bracket is shaped differently from the reproduction in your picture, at the frame end

I have one that I got in a box of parts from an "estate" sale. See parts for sale, ref p/n C5ZZ-5A246-C.

If you are puzzled because you don't see bolt holes on the RH frame rail, this thread may help explain.

You did'nt say where or when your car was built. I have an April 64 Dearborn car, and the hanger was welded directly to the frame. Not sure exactly when this practice ended, and the bolt on bracket began. Maybe Jeff knows? If there is no evidence of threaded holes in the frame, you may have one of these cars.

Guess as usual we should have started out with the  question - rather than guess about

sanluis09 - When and where was your car built?  (rough estimate since we all understand you have the door tag date at best)

Thanks all for the answers,

I'm from Mexico....and so my car..... and as you probably know, "mexican" Mustangs can not be decoded by their door tags...I mean, you can not tell where and when the car was built....or can you???

I'm guessing my built date should be on the frame of Oct 64 - Feb 65...as for some part numbers that are stamped on different parts of my car.... for example, some of the panels like the fenders have stamped "10 13 3", deck panel has "11 5 2C", others like the hood hinges says "2 27 3", the battery holddown clamp says "10 14 4", the rear axle vin tag reads "WCZ-F 3.00 4LD 901".....and for this, I know that 901 is the code for the plant, in this case Dearborn. The original CARbureTER fuel pump is stamped with the numbers "30 M 4A".

Original invoice is from April, 1965.

Thank you

I added five pictures to the one I have for sale and reduced the price. See Parts for Sale.

Could not recall if those early cars were built (partially or completely) in Mexico. Would make a big difference to what parts were used.

You've got a challenge in front of you with that car

Have pictures of one other 65 Mexican Mustang coupe though no undercarriage ones :(

Hi,

Could someone confirm me the exact dimensions of the correct 1965 original transverse muffler (single exhaust, 289) and the exact dimensions of the original resonator?

Thank you,
Luis
