What is the correct part number and date code and color for a hood release. The car is a 69 CJ mustang.  Thank you!

If your referring to the hood latch that is connected to the grill support the original finish is phosphate & oil

Have no idea of the date code since you didn't post when your car was really built ;)

As for part number - of you purchase a NOS one its will most likely not have a date code that would be correct for your car.

C9ZZ-16700-A

Remember no engineerign or part number will be on the part. Plenty of good used ones out there that just need replating and greased

It was painted silver and jasco would barely touch it.  I was worried that I destroyed an original part!  Here is what I have after stripping it.  There is "AA" on the safety catch and the date, there are no other ID information that I could locate.

Thanks!

I suppose you already read the Marcus' article in the 69 section of the Library on hood latches

The latch pictured has grooves on the release lever.  Don't think Marcus has a picture of one of those ?  Brian
