My 1966 convertible's paint code on the data plate is "R" for dark green metallic but the original window sticker shows it as Ivy Green. I realize Ivy Green was a special order color and it's my understanding the paint code should be blank. Which color is correct? The data plate or the original window sticker?

Paint code "R" is Ivy Green Metallic in 1966 and is a standard production color. The question is where did you get the information that the data plate code "R" was Dark Green Metallic?

Not sure who told you it was a special order color but Ford used allot of different names for the same color when used on other years and car models.
