Topic: 66 Emergency flasher relay mounting?

Searched the post title and got no results but I know this has been discussed before
Anyway the glove box is out to install the am 8 track so now is a good time to install the holder for the emergency flasher relay but where?
BTW, factory flasher install of later design with harness that unplugs from toggle switch

Sorry still need more info or a diagram (non schematic) or picture of where the flasher relay mounting bracket goes

Will see if I have something that illustrates it better - or someone else will have a picture.

If I recall correctly and without tearing a car down, the L bracket attaches to the drivers side top surface of the cardboard glove box liner and there is a small thin sheet metal bracket above. The two work to sandwich the cardboard between the two to stabilize things

Ok, so the clamp shares the same rectangular plate used to sandwich the glove box between the toggle switch?

The L bracket the switch is connected to is held in place with those two machine screws - they thread into a thin plate on the top of the glove box liner

Looks like we're talking about two different things here
I have the drum shaped emergency relay just dangling on its harness
It must have a clip (missing) to secure it somewhere around the glove box like the signals
relay does over on the drivers side?

The installation manual appears to show that clip screwed to the back side of the dash down at the bottom - same general area as where the wiring looms is hidden as it crosses over towards the PS door.  It took me a long time to find one of these clips, and when I did it would not go in the position shown in the manual because I have A/C and the unit interferes with where the clip would attach.  I am still curious about this as well.

Good luck finding a clip.  BTW, what you are calling a relay is more commonly called a flasher IMO.  Same as the one used on the turn signals.

The emergency signal flasher is required to operate four lights (plus dash) at the same time, the turn signal flasher operates two. They are not interchangeable without a noticeable difference. They are marked 2 lamp or 4 lamp. That's not saying that a new technology would not function for both, but the factory installed flashers were different.

That is true.

I have A/C and the unit interferes with where the clip would attach.  I am still curious about this as well.

The emergency flasher wiring was installed prior to the air conditioning system.

Just for the terminology, there is a nut clip and flasher retainer clip. The flasher retainer is C1TF-13551-A, the nut clip is 45144-S2 (screw is 42127-S2)
