Correct application for 65-66 NOS side stripe kit
« on: June 11, 2015, 10:16:33 PM »
Can anyone tell the exact application for these NOS stripe kits? Part number is C5ZZ 6520000-a? These are black stripes and I wonder what if anything in the part number denotes color of stripes? Are these also correct for 65-66? Are they for any model Mustang or GT cars? Thanks for any info!

They look they would be for a GT with DR marked for the door, FF for front fender and Q for the quarter panel but shouldn't the front fender ones have a gap for the Mustang letters?

My thought as well. That's why I'm thinking these are simply over the counter add ons?? Hopefully someone can confirm the correct application. At least they are black which would appeal to more folks/color combos.

Believe they (as well as other year stripe kits) have the color coded into the part number. Kept the counter people from having to open each box and inspect to find the stripes they needed.

Are these also correct for 65-66? Are they for any model Mustang or GT cars? Thanks for any info!

They appear to be the 65-66 versions but will need trimming at the front fender opening (for the letters if used on a GT that was shipped to somewhere other than Germany ;)

Yes they are over the counter ones used for repaired and/or repaired cars originally- Boxed in the late 70's into the early 80's I would guess based on what you have pictures of

In 1984 I purchased an NOS set of stripes for my '66 GT to replace them after a repaint (the originals had been removed by the PO). The sections for the front fenders were already configured with the cut out for the Mustang letters. Wish I had the part number on the box, but it is loooong gone.

Good to know. Like Jeff stated , I'm sure these could be cut out or altered to match the original GT stripes. I would attempt if I had these for a GT car. I myself prefer Ford over aftermarket, even in stripes.  ;)

Don't the stripes seem to be a bit wide in the spacing ?  Brian

I'm not the expert on this. I can measure the spacing on what I have, can you supply what is correct on your end for comparison? Thanks

Also thinking the same as Brian, gap looks wide in pictures

I can't provide a reliable measurement.  The stripes on my car are at least the 3rd set.   FWIW the gap/spacing measures mostly 7/16".  Br

From my original door in storage, factory stripes: thin 1/4" center 31/32" gap between them just under 1/2"

Yours look pretty close
