This can't be right. Can it???

I've determined that I have a Ford Thompson power steering pump.  So it is supposed to be painted teal blue.  Okay, I can live with that.

(When I bought the car in 1982, the pump was Ford corporate blue.) 

I bead blasted my pump and found two layers of a blue that is close to Ford corporate blue.  The older blue looked lighter than corporate but not off by a whole bunch.

I ordered the special teal-blue-for-power-steering-pumps rattle can from NPD.  I started to paint it and this is what it looks like.  Yikes!  It's what I'd call a dark metallic gun metal color with a slight hint of blue.

Questions:
(1) Does this look like the correct teal blue color? :-[

(2) Does anyone have a picture of a teal blue pump installed on a Ford engine?  (I'm having a hard time visualizing it next to a blue Ford valve cover.)

(3) Is the pulley attached to the pump supposed to be painted teal blue or semigloss black?

It looks like the NPD color I got and used. A bit more blue than many of the pumps I've seen (I've seen slightly greener blue ones) but IMHO in the region of what could be produced with a non-exact formula than seems to change between batches

No the pulley was not installed when the pump was painted. It would have been semi-gloss black and added later

Thanks Jeff.  Even in your pictures the color seems to be different in each.   :-\

Another question:  In a 1970 San Jose car, would the p/s pump bracket be semigloss black?

Wait.  I think I found the answer to my latest question.  The MCA judging rules indicate the p/s mounting bracket and spacer are to be natural aluminum.  (Rule 4. R.)

The aluminum bracket is natural - the steel adjusting part is semi-gloss black

Are you sure the bracket is aluminium for a 1970 Mach 1 and not just for a Boss? Mine does stick to a magnet...

The small block and the 351C both brackets appear to be done in semi-gloss black


Another question: What color do the shockmount-BOLTS have? Mine are painted black as are the shockmounts themselves.

The upper carriage bolts that attach the shock mount to the shock tower or the bolts for the shock to the shock mount on the front ?

Those are carriage bolts that typically have the  dark heated treated look

Yes if your cleaning them with a paint remover - blasting or something like that will change the metal finish
