Topic: Convertible Top - Pump Fluid

I am replacing my lift cylinders and hydraulic hoses since they were leaking.  What is the recommended type of ATF to use?  Thanks.

Type F I believe.

Yes, Type F was the original fluid, but believe it has a tendency to make the plastic pump lines brittle and caused them to crack over time.  That is why most replace it with Dexron Mercon. Type F is also known to make rubber seals brittle as well.  The Dexron Mercon runs like a champ and you would never know the difference that's why today the Dexron Mercon is recommended over the original Type F fluid in Convertible Top Pumps.  The Dexron Mercon does not contain the Caustic properties of the Type F.  I think I read that somewhere long ago.  Just a tip.
