Topic: 289 and engine bay detailling !!

hi,

i am almost ready to paint my engine ! Just want to make sure what parts are not blue !!

Fan spaer - cast blast
fan blade-- black
alternator bracket-- cast blast
power steering pump --teal blue
power steering bracket ----cast blast
power steering bracket to block-- black
all pulley--black

Hood hinges -cast blast
Hood latch --cast blast
Hood catch --cast blast

i know somes parts are natural but i prefer to paint them, so if that correct with a cast blast to be the closest from natural ??

let me know if i do a mistake or miss me a parts that is not blue or black for engine bay !!

Is your Mustang an export car? Domestic sold Mustangs in 1968, that had manual transmissions came with thermactor smog systems, or air pumps. I ask this because you said cast or natural for the alternator mounting bracket. 289/302 cars in 1968 with smog had a cast iron bracket for mounting the air pump (natural or cast grey color) and the alternator (alternator under the smog pump on passenger side).
If no smog and you have the stamped steel alternator mounting bracket, it would be painted satin black (chassis black?), same with the alternator adjusting arm. Alternator pulleys are not black, they are gold?

Color pictures will help you. I am getting ready to detail my 302-4V engine for my GT/CS very soon.

For power steering - aluminum bracket is left natural. Only the front bracket is painted black.
Pretty sure that the spacers for power steering (if without A/C) and the alternator are also natural.

Fan spacer - aluminum not cast iron ,alternator bracket -typically both semi black ,power steering bracket -The one that surrounds the pump is aluminum,The alternator pulley is gold in 67,Hood hinges -zinc phosphate (darker),Hood latch -zinc phosphate (darker),Hood catch -zinc phosphate (darker).Alumablast is aluminum paint from eastwood . They also have a zinc phoshphate paint that is a little dark but a combination of cast black and dusting with the darker zinc phosphate paint gives a better llook then cast blast by itself IMO.I hope this helps.

the bellhousing suppose to be aluminium too ? 289 with a 4 speed toplaoder !
