Looking for concensus on the finish of E brake hair pin clip retaining the E brake cables to back of car and front disc brake hose retaining clip holding the hose fitting into the frame rail bracket. zinc phosphate or safety red . Let me hear some input.

As the heading indicates 1964 1/2 -1966 . I thought listing the years would be redundant considering the heading it is under.

Posted on SAAC forum too... most of these I have seen on 65-66 were phosphate or darkened steel appearance.

Those clips were stamped from spring steel stock which has a slight gloss from the original steel manufacturing process. The texture should not be the flat finish you get from phosphate. The raw stock was on a roll but it tended to get scratched from handling. Gun black probably is the closest for touchups.

Didn't find any evidence of the safety red on original 65-66 applications (parts that your referring to) Though later and NOS examples were easy to find
