69 Shelby Exhaust Plenum Bolts
« on: April 21, 2015, 08:19:50 AM »
A prior owner put 2 longer studs in the plenum that sits behind the rear valence.  I would like to put the correct bolts and washers on the car now while I am replacing the exhaust system.  Does anyone know where I could get the correct bolts?  I looked on AMK's website, but I do not see them listed.  These are the longer bots that connect the plenum to the rear of the car.

Thanks.

the rubber biscuits I refer to look like they are from rear shocks.

Thanks.  It looked like the shelby shop manual supplement drawing had bolts shown.  I will leave the studs in place.

As an observer from the sidelines, the initial question of if "bolts" vs. "studs", which is correct? It hasn't really been confirmed one way or the other...Could this be clarified?  ??? The OP had mentioned "studs" were possibly installed by the PO suggests them incorrect yet Branda's site suggest bolts and others claim studs are correct.

The saacforum thread (above link) says that studs were used.  I wonder if some cars had bolts and some had studs.  The drawing in the shop manual supplement shows bolts.

In general MHO follow he original car examples (same plant, car, year and time period) rather than what some book or document says or suggest that they might have done when they conflict.
