Topic: Heater hose routing

I am redoing the under hood area on my 1966 Sprint with air.  I have replaced the heater hoses and looking for a picture with the proper routing for the hoses.

Here is the pic below of the correct hose routing that you need (Top Pic routing), but if your Sprint 200 has "Original" Ford Factory air, It DOES NOT get two Black hoses with White Stripes,  ***Very Important,  If the car had Factory air, It got either Two Black hoses, Both with Yellow Stripes, or One hose was Black with a Yellow Stripe (nearest to the A/C Compressor), and the other hose was Black with a White Stripe (Furthest away from the A/C Compressor).




But even more important, Is your 1966 Sprint 200 in the Sprint 200 Registry??

Would you have a photo of the hoses from the firewall to the carburetor?  I cant seem to get them through the strap where they look right.

You didn't include where the car was built nor during what period of time.
Couple of examples

Late 66 Dearborn




San Jose with rubber holder. Depending on worker, time period and/or additional options the strap was attached with one or two screws

Jeff, He's got a Dearborn built 1966 Sprint 200 with an "07G" Date code.  He also has the dual straps on the passenger side just like your Dearborn top picture.

He had a concern though.  Out of the two straps on the Passenger side He would like to know what hoses route through what straps......Both hoses through both straps, or top hose through forward strap, and bottom hose through rear strap?  or something different???

What I've got


On 6F07T1272xx (non-AC car) both hoses are routed through (one on top of the other) the passenger side rubber strap. At least one hose has been replaced

On 6FT07T2480xx The AC thin line is attached to the drivers side shock tower. While the passenger side rubber strap holds both heater hoses up. Heater hoses have been replaced on that car. No sign of a second metal strap on the passenger side

On 6F07T3622xx ( the prior top picture)
With the AC the front strap holds only one heater hose, the  hose and the metal rear one holds the thicker AC line. The heater hose from the carb spacer goes back, up and over  the AC line - so it and the metal strap hold that heater hose up and out of the way on that original car.

On 6F08T7219xx There are three straps like the above example. One on drivers side for the thin AC line. One metal and one rubber on the passenger side. Unfortunately the view is obscured so can provide anything else

I see from this pic the rubber holder and am interested in knowing what would be for my car the right/correct routing, if it had to have that strap, or had to has clips to attach the hose to block, etc..
I don't see any hole were the clip could be attached in my block, and not sure if any hole in the export brace to hold that strap.. will check in daylight.

Is your car an "export" car with the one piece export brace or with the separate shock tower suuports (2) as shown in the pictures?  This would relate to the rubber hanging strap. If its the typical non-export two piece style then it would have typically had the rubber strap on your application

No Jeff, my car was build in SJ and sold in LA, so no export car. Then, I assume it had to has the rubber hanging  strap. Here are some pics.

Passenger side brace and drivers side brace. I note that they have two small holes (in each brace) that I don't know for what they were supposed to be used. And BTW, any chance to get a original strap..? Repro.?

Looking at that configuration, I note that my hoses are incorrectly put..!! For some reason, I didn't realize they were put wrong, probably when PO did the restoration..
There's a section going from the lower part of the water pump to carb that is steel tubing, and assume it has to be rubber, but definitely they are swaped.

Ford put holes in both braces to accommodate other options, accessories and engine types. On the drivers side the holes were used to hold up AC lines for cars with that option

Someone was making the straps at one point  - not sure now. Before the reproductions owners and shops would just make their own from used tires
