C4AF R FoMoCo Carb Correct for 64.5 289 Auto

I'm wondering what are the odds that a C4AF-R 4100 carburetor being fitted to a 64.5 D code 289 4V?
According to Mustangtek (http://www.mustangtek.com/4100/ford4100.html) the C4AF-R was more for 352 big block motor not necessarily used on Mustang, where as the C4GF-AF was.
The noticeable difference being the venturi size 1.08 vs 1.12.
I found no reference for the C4AF-R in Bob Mannel's book, or Kevin Marti's Mustang and Cougar Tagbook.
I guess it's may be a possibility but just want to make sure before I go down the path...

Dom,
  The 1.12 dia venture is the giveaway. A C4AF-R is way to big for a "D" code unless you drop in a hot cam and add headers, and then tinker this jets and stuff, and it will eat fuel. What's the cost of gas down under? If you are looking to make something work, it's possible, otherwise look for a 1.08 4100.

Thanks Jim, yeah I have a 4100 which I purchased overhauled (I won't say restored) as I've since found out.
I'm not sure exactly what to do with it, from knowledge the finish is butchered once it's been blasted like this one has. I'll run with it until I can find a good restorable candidate, it's not the only thing I need and not really in any rush for it as I'm still a sheetmetal work stage, the tail end of it at least.
As far as gas prices, yeah it's expensive but an expense I can control (just don't drive, lol), unlike cost of Mustang parts, shipping and a struggling Aussie dollar.

I'm curious, what do you folks think a restorable core is worth?

I have found most rebuildable, complete NON-RARE 4100's are going for about a "buck" but the Hi-Po's can be a "grand" or so,  so it depends on the specific supply and immediate demand, as in all other such things.

The carb you have looks decent Dom, I wouldn't be too fussy about it.  You could probably take some 0000 steel wool to the body of the carb to smooth it out a touch.  Obviously do not want to make it shiny.

The carb you have looks decent Dom, I wouldn't be too fussy about it.  You could probably take some 0000 steel wool to the body of the carb to smooth it out a touch.  Obviously do not want to make it shiny.
