Topic: screw/bolt for F tee windshield washer hoses - 67 Metuchen

I can't find my take off fastener for the F tee of the windshield washer hoses, Is it just a phosphate finished Phillips pan head sheet metal screw.

Attached is a picture of what was on my car.  The F-tee is broken, but you can see that it is a hex head.  Can not say if it is original.  My car was built 04-25-1967.

Now to rummage through coffee cans of fasteners. I'm assuming it's a self threading type.

+1 . There are not to many things that easy on these cars if historical accuracy is the goal. The junk yard version of the hardware store more likely.

Finally got aroundto measueing mounting hole on tee. It's a 7/32 size hole. Off to salvage yard when my back heals.

Here is a shot of what your looking for. Looks like the head has no markers mark - or at least one that shows up in the picture.

Let’s do an analysis of the screw used to retain the windshield washer “T” –
1 We have two pictures of the screw, the first without an external tooth lock washer, the second with.
2 We have to assume that the two screws have the same thread diameter primarily to fit the mounting hole in the “T”. That would be a size 8.
3 Neither picture defines the screw diameter, pitch, tip type or length.
4 As the “T” is attached to the cowl sheet metal, we must assume a sheet metal screw is used.
5 There is only one sheet metal screw this size shown in the AMK Guide to Ford Fasteners. It is only used in 64-66 glove box applications, 374565-S7/8. No other years use this screw. No other size external tooth lock washer sheet metal screw is documented.
6 Both the 67 and 68 Body Assembly Manuals call out 373611-S2 for the application in question. It does not use an external tooth lock washer.
7 Both the 67 and 68 Body Assembly Manuals call out 373611-S2 to attach the nozzles to the cowl.
8 Assuming the same assembly line station installs all the windshield washer hoses, nozzles and “T”, the same screw would be used in all three places as it is documented, mainly for ease of assembly. (Note: the 67 manual calls for two screws in the Bill of Materials section although there are three shown on the drawing. It is corrected in 68.)
You can make you own conclusion but 373611-S2 seems to be the correct screw for this application.

For the record - should have posted it with the picture - my example was a June 67 car. Will add that in the post above

Holes look to be the exact same size between the washers, round strap and the T. On this example the washers do not have any star washers.  Would need more examples from this time period to say if this was a typical piece of hardware for that time

With a 24 inch monitor and using a zoom of 400 pct, yes. Plus some Photoshop stuff in the attached. It was a quick job.

As mentioned they are the same as the first picture - lacking the washer. All look to be original to the car. Since this is a NJ car not as many samples as other plants where I found no washers - but that means very little IMHO to this discussion - different plants. Kind of like the grounding strap screw
