Ivy Green Hertz Shelby on Ebay
« on: March 03, 2015, 09:10:31 PM »
Came across this tonight:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shelby-GT350H-Mustang-Hertz-Rare-Factory-Air-Conditioning-1-of-58-Ivy-Green-GT350H-Mustang-/181680178235?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a4cfb843b&item=181680178235&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

I thought the green Hertz cars did not have the stripes over the top, is that correct or a rumor?  Also reading the description, the hood tach and pins were missing when it arrived at JD Ball Ford.  My dad's Hertz was also shipped there and the tach was missing when it arrived.  He has the paperwork from Shelby and the railroad company documenting it.  "Something" must of happened on that ride.  Would be interesting to see how many other cars were "missing" items...

Things got borrowed or broken from time to time. One of the reasons cars didn't get shipped with hubcaps, antennas and the like.

Yes the green ,blue and red cars were not supposed to get the LeMans over the top stripes according to factory documents. The hertz cars did not get A/C from the factory . Most likely added later. With all of the bogus claims of factory installed superchargers, all wood steering wheels, optional crager wheels etc that we hear by owners,  the "factory"A/C claim has a credibility problem .

Also, the Monte Carlo bar looks like a later reproduction (bar welded too low on the
side brackets) and the vin number plate looks too good to me.

I see some significant flaws in their restoration procedure let alone the details of the restored assembly's .If issues with those things I think it would call into question un substantiated car history credibility too IMO.

Would not assume anything.  Not all shops or owners can spend as much time researching the finer details since they are trying to run a business and make money, especially if they are restoring (for example) a 64 Dearborn car one day, a 67 NJ convertible the next week and then a 66 San Jose built car.

Not suggesting that its the case in this example but sometimes the guys that have been around for a long time are still restoring to older standards and expectations.

+1 . Working within a customers budget also comes into play with a restoration shop too.
