1964-1/2 engine compartment finish
« on: February 23, 2015, 12:44:56 AM »
I'm trying to find out correct finishes for a few engine compartment areas in a Mar 64 built U-code engine compartment. I don't recall seeing areas such as the firewall, shock towers, radiator support, etc in the online MCA Mustang Rules 54.5-66. Non-engine components seem to generally be semi-gloss. Are these areas semi-gloss? Online photos are a good mix of semi-gloss, with a near-satin appearance, and extremely shiny indicating gloss.

Thanks for the reply. I wish there was an illustrated guide to accompany all the text. I would do better with pictures. I am going to assume from that information that the radiator support is semi-gloss as well.
I'm not going toward concourse competition, I just want my car to be as close to factory-correct as possible. At least it is an early enough 64-1/2, Date Code 12C, that I can stick with 64-1/2 standards without concerns for any rolling-changes yet.

Charles and I discussed do just that - then realized how big of a job it would be especially once you consider all the differences with plant, years and running changes.  So many things we would like to do..... so little time in life to do them all
