Vent window weatherstrip install - Help!
« on: February 20, 2015, 06:02:45 PM »
Hi guys,
I'm trying to install the division bar onto the frame and I've read that the edge seal is supposed to tuck into the weatherstrip.  I've tried to tuck it, but it just doesn't look right; it pooches way too much.  To me, it looks like the back of the weatherstrip should be cut for the edge seal to sit flush inside the frame.
What has everyone else done to get these in right?

Thanks for the help!

Both ends should tuck inside the the vent frame w/s.  Are you working with original/NOS or repro parts?

The frames and division bars are all original (rechromed frames, polished D/B).  The weatherstrip and edge seal are new from a Mustang supply store.  It doesn't seem right to have to pull the edge seal away from the division bar to slip it into the pocket of the weatherstrip.  It just looks all bunched up.

Thank you,
Kelley

Some trimming of the vertical seal may be required depending on the manufacturer of the weatherstrip. The vertical seal must tuck into the vent frame seal at both ends, so only trim a little at a time until each end fits neatly into the vent frame seal.

That's just the way it was.  The glass will seat the w/s better over time.  Original/NOS parts would have fit a little better.

Thanks guys for the input.  It sure doesn't look like a good fit, but I believe you both and will give it a go tomorrow.

Thanks again,
Kelley
