Topic: 1967 390 GT S Code Engine Color

I have a 1967 GTA 390 S Code, Built in December of 1966 at the San Jose plant. Currently the engine is a lighter Blue, but I here it should be painted the ford dark Blue.

Would anyone know what blue my engine should be?

Yes the light blue is incorrect for most 60's Ford V8's not just your 390. Duplicolor or Plasticote both offer a dark blue in a rattle can . Here is a link where it was being discussed on the SAAC forum .Disregard the 66 being discussed as I mentioned before the dark blue was used all through the later 60's on Ford V8's. http://saacforum.com/index.php?topic=31019.msg243354;topicseen#msg243354

Some advise please,
I can get a hold of the following paint in southern Ca, I can't even find a place in Az that carries it. Plus no one will ship it either.
PPG Acrylic Enamel Paint
PPG DAR 13358
DX 265 All Purpose Flatting Base
DXR 80 Ultra Urethane Hardener
DTR 601 or 602 reducer

So what would you do if you want to put your mustang the the concourse driving class?

Maybe a road trip is in order? Depending on how bad you want it - drive to the closest state that will sell it and drive it home.

Did you try TCP Global? Last time I checked they would even ship lacquer to California addresses - they are located in the state.

Last order from them was Delstar/PPG single stage enamel

Also the paints are related to the air boards not the state typically. An example would be is that I can't get the PPG here locally but if I go east or west (bay area or the hills I can buy and shot the stuff. All within the state.

Lacquer (if I want to pick up) is a trip to south Lake Tahoe. But there are some formulas (liek the good lead based products) that aren't being made nor available in any state from my understanding. That is why the DP 90 and 70 all carry the LF (Lead free) as part of the paint coat.
