Topic: Vent window division bar - stainless or chrome?

I've read on this and other forums that the division bar is stainless steel, but when I put a small magnet to it, it proves to be ferrous.  I'm just trying to figure out if I should sand and polish out the scratches or send the piece to the chrome shop.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's stainless steel.

Pay attention to the orientation of the buff lines.  A little detail that's kind of interesting to duplicate.
