Air Cleaner Details- Oct 64 San Jose car
« on: February 05, 2015, 06:28:08 PM »
Ok so trying to detail (again) my engine bay. Going to respray the air cleaner. Is the inside of the canister Black? Or Gold? Is the inside of LID Black? Or gold? If black where does it transition to gold? the lip of the lid or the gasket?

Also does anyone have placement pictures for the correct decals for a San Jose Car, CA Born and raised Car?
And the question that no one can answer Front Sticker or NO Front Sticker?

Here you go - examples from that plant and period. Judging events will be expecting a replacement parts decal on the back radius of the air cleaner lid.

Air cleaner

Service decal

Breather cap seen allot of cars without this one

Battery check  decal - can be slightly further forward or rearward. Location is not exact

And the question that no one can answer Front Sticker or NO Front Sticker?

Don't where you've been asking ;)    No FRONT sticker IMHO  Never seen an original on that plant that time period

Here you go - examples from that plant and period.

Does the above also apply to first week of August production? (same year and plant)

Don't believe its bare metal but all gold or gold and black I can't confirm

Would have to look through the examples. Asking about San Jose I'm guessing ;)

Just saw another thread on this, the inside was not painted, its bare metal with
some overspray to the inside where the snorkle goes.

Interesting - sure someone will pop up with a picture of the interior of an original

Never seen bare on other years or other models

Here are pictures of the inside of my Aug 64 coupe. Dearborn not SJ but Phill could post his SJ 66, it's unpainted also.

OK, thank you. Yes, San Jose it is. If you find any differences from October, maybe we should start a new thread for future searches?
