Convertible rear seat stereo speakers
« on: January 23, 2015, 04:48:25 PM »
Scanning the MPC noticed a detail showing rear seat speakers for the 67/68 convertibles.  Mounted in the fiberglass/plastic armrest in the vertical forward facing section.

Have never seen them installed, anyone know if they were actually used, and if so have a picture?

Possibly a 68 ONLY thing? I do not believe the 67's had Stereo in the REAR, only had the optional door mounted stereo speakers for the AM/8-track in 67.

What year MPC was that?? Never seen nor heard of rear speakers  for a classic Mustang other than a single (65-66 fastback and coupe) one with the reverb or generic dealer installed kits

Got a scan of the page you found?

I know STEREO was a new option for 68's. I also know the 68 Coupes had the provision for stereo rear speakers in the structure under the package tray, I'm not sure on the fastback or convertibles ever had a provision(for rear stereo speakers). I also have never noticed a 68 EVER with a factory installed stereo.

Maybe others have seen them.

It is on page P-5754 of the 65-72 MPC.  Called out as 67/68 Ford w/Stereo Tape player, not specifically for Mustangs, so maybe not used on them... the version of the MPC I have seems to be able to block screen captures so can't post a pic...

My converted to PDF 72 version is number differently. Normally if the page or description refers to "Ford" then its referring to big Fords rather than Mustang

My version has the ability to grab individual pages by the maker but some of the screen capture soft ware lets me do it anyway ;)
