Put together a new guide on the different style snubber brackets to help identify what is correct for the different years.  Keep seeing these listed wrong on Ebay by different sellers so hopefully this will help those who are looking.

Excellent.

I always understood these to be natural or bare steel.  But, I recently read in an older post on this site that the snubber bracket was phosphate and oil.  Which is correct?

Marcus you may want to amend the text on the version #3.  That style was not only used "up to" but it was used into 68 production when it changed over sometime after the first of the year 68 to the last style.

Sounds good Bob.  I actually had it referenced to change about Feb 1968 but didnt want to pin down such an exact date without hearing from others.  I can change the wording around a bit to indicate that time period.

Marcus, I used "the first of the year" which would include Feb 68 for wiggle room because I am not sure of a exact definitive date ether . I know that they were changed by April just not sure how much before.

You have the correct 9 inch bracket in the floor but at some time in the past a PO has bolted the 8 inch? snubber where none should be. 9 inch rear Mustangs had the snubber incorporated into the shield.

Well done Marcus.

My Oct 65 car has the early style shown used on 65 and carry over 66 cars however has the rubber snubber bolted to the plate welded to the chassis. Took a few close ups last year when starting a clean up.

Searched for images on Google and found a picture of a similar style snubber over on VMF. http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/vintage-mustang-forum/625566-how-can-i-tell-if-real-gt.html

Any idea why the difference? A Metuchen thing? Never heard of it being a factory GT thing. I've seen them before on other cars also but don't remember the details

Seen that decoded (and has matched up on parts for me) as being 1971 suggesting as does the other features that some one in the past has assembled various pieces to make a third member installed in your car
