Mine was built at the end of Oct of 64 so I'm sure it is supposed to be behind. Just wanted to double check. Reason for asking is I changed out the timing cover and water pump last year to a date code correct one but for some reason the fuel line clip does not even come close to the fuel line (clip was missing before). I don't know if the line is correct or not but it fits perfectly in between the block, power steering pump and AC brackets. See pic below of how far away the clip is:
If anyone has a suggestions let me know....
These were not bent so that they would fall into place exactly IMHO and would require the worker assembling the engine to pull or push the line slightly into place and have the clamp hold it into place after that. Looks like the worker may have skipped putting the top clamp on the car - threads on the hole appear (from the picture) not to have been used but could just be the angle also
On the original question in the thread I checked my San Jose pictures and the change for the fuel line from behind to in front of the dist appears (based on those pictures) to be much later than what the Dearborn pictures suggested. Finding cars built well into spring and later 1965 with fuel lines still routed behind the distributor. Highest San Jose VIN with it routed behind that I found was 5R247510
So as expected using the current condition of 50 year old cars can include allot of changes by PO's though most, I would guess when asked, would report that what we're seeing is the "way they were"
