Beautiful reproductions of this muffler are available.
I picked up this muffler around 1989, most likely at the Iola swap meet. My car is going to be a driver, so I will install a repro muffler and keep this one as a "museum piece".
Congrats on having an original. I am fortunate to be as lucky. The original exhaust system is still on my '68 Mustang with a date code of April 19, 1968. Years ago I found an original complete exhaust system from the manifold to the tail pipe which has a date code of March 13, 1968. I am storing the extra system. Mine is a 289-2v single exhaust. It is nice that dtae coded repos are available for drivers,
That's pretty cool, having the originals still on your car, and having a complete extra system. I've seen Scott Fuller's website, it's great to see the pains he takes to make such accurate reproductions. I'm sure I'll end up with a few of his pieces on my car. It would be ironic (and some will question my sanity) if I install a $600+ reproduction muffler, just to preserve an original that I paid about $125 for! That was 25 years ago, so in today's dollars maybe they're a lot closer in value.
