Did 70  frt disc brake caliper mounting bolts have lock washers or just the safety wire to secure them to the spindle. or both.

For the bolts that hold the caliper mounting bracket to the spindle there both lock washers and the safety wire.  It would be two bolts per spindle.

I've read that a couple of times, did you mean there are aka there're?
Sorry, English is a first language but does have its quirks.

Both lock washers and safety wire were used on caliper mount to spindle bolts

Think it was just a typo

Looking for a clarification. If you can make a mistake and do it wrong, I can make a mistake and do it right - if I knew what you were doing.  ;)

Yes...sorry.  I have been drinking too much eggnog this holiday season.  There is lock washers and safety wire.  Usually I see the safety wire missing if the car was taken apart in the past.

I had that situation on a car, the shop didn't have safety wire or the tool available, so they just "did me a favor" and left it off. They are no longer in business. I wonder why?

Sounds like they did themselves a favor by not putting it back together correct.  I think the safety wire pliers are about $10 - they are not hard to find.  Used alot in the aircraft industry.

This is an old post and the pics are no longer available. Can someone post how the safety wire is supposed to go on a '70 disc brake car. Also, what is best source for the wire? Thanks.

Don't know that we ever posted pictures to the thread but will see if I have anything. BTW thanks for posting the request here rather than starting a whole new thread :)

On the point of the safety - there may be (very likely) differences between plants and possibly even workers so just be prepared for that and also finding the right size wire and metal can be a challenge at times but there is at least one other thread that offered suggestions I use to buy it locally at Orchard Supply labeled Annealed Wire or Annealed Baling Wire. Almost bought an extra roll when they closed but just didn't need another.
