65 AC Drain Hose

So I had a little issue trying to remove the drain hose out of my car.  I didn't realize there was a bend at the other end and it broke since the hose is so hard.  I assume it might be original.  Correct me if I am wrong.  Anyways, what is the best way to fix this or what would be the best solution for a replacement?  The reproduction hoses I believe are not correct.  Again correct me if I am wrong.  This one has  some ribbed lines in it.  It almost looks like the hose that goes from the air cleaner to the oil filler cap on the closed emission system cars with a DSo in Cali.

Those that have AC, what kind of hose are you using?

I've used a PCV hose when I wanted it the right smooth texture instead of the ribbed style.  The original A/C hoses I've seen had a big end with a drip end, formed with a taper and an 'X' split at the end.  Don't believe I have any pics.  Pretty tough to see once the car is all put together.

All I have ever normally seen is the completely incorrect plastic ribbed model (it's terrible - but functional).  I happened to notice the Calf Mustang now sells a more correct looking part.  Very pricey part @ $34.  It's meant for a 67 or newer but looks like the '65 / 66 part (minus the ribbing).  Would definitely have to check if Inside Dimension of that hose will fit a '65 application.

The bend does not look right on that.  Looks like and S shape as opposed to haveving the end turned 90 degrees...

You are totally right.  The '65 version has an offset twist to the end.  That's definitely an original you took off.  Mine looked the same on my July '65 Metuchen built car.  I couldn't save my hose - it was a brittle mess.

PS - your idea to use the PCV valve to carb spacer hose may work.  The bends appear to be a lot closer to correct.

This is not entirely to scale but the bends in the NOS AC drip hose and the PVC to carb hose are similar.  The NOS AC drip hose has a tighter bend at the end that if I recall correctly exits via the hole in the floor pan and the opposite end of the NOS AC drip hose appears (in the picture at least) to be rotated just slightly past 90 degrees.  Hope this helps.  I've always wondered what other options there are to the ugly repro available now.

I don't think I can re-install mine without it breaking again.  I super glued it but I don't know if that will hold when trying to put it back when going through the carpet and the actual hole.  I am going to take my PCV hose off and see if the diameter works on it.  The end on the original hose could be hooked more due to where it comes out on under the car and just formed that way , maybe?  Obviously no one will reproduce this hose if there is not a huge demand for it.

Wow, I had no idea the repro was so far off. I have one on my '66, and it's pretty visible without that nice side cover the '65 evaporator units used.  I'm surprised someone hasn't come up with a more accurate part.

Original poster didn't specify if they were asking about any particular year so thought some might be assuming that the hoses were all the same (since added "65" to the post header)

Learned something new today.  I had no idea the AC drip line hose for '66 was so different from the '65.  Very strange that Ford went back to a smooth rubber hose style drip line in '67 and later versions of the AC.  Perhaps the corrugated plastic / rubber tube in '66 wasn't durable?

The '66 version is rubber too, not plastic.  At least the repro is.
