66 K code emergency Brake question

The Emergency brake system on this K code I am currently restoring had the spring attached at the floor pan rather than the frame rail. is this a K code thing or something somebody did back in the day. This rust spring was attached to the system. Opinions appreciated or rather input. Notice the two holes in the floor pan. Dearborn car. Thanks!

Never heard of that before, but interesting that it's 2 holes just like on the frame rail.  Maybe others have seen this?  Post up the production plant and approximate build date.  Might be something that happened temporarily at a certain plant, maybe not K code related.

Are the normal holes present in the frame rail?

Hi Charles!   Yes the holes are there in the frame rail.  I'll check on the build date tomorrow and post it.   It is probably from someone doing it sometime in the past. But I just want to make sure as I should made a decision on this some time ago, I just forgot about the holes, as I have been doing other work to the car.   Thanks!

I've never seen that before. The spring that you show doesn't seem correct either. I'd bet that Ford didn't do that.

The spring looks like something that "works" (the original fell off). The Ford spring is C5ZZ-2A651-A described as 15 1/8 in long, 25 coils. The one I have is close, 15 3/8 in long, 22 coils and has a 0.110in dia "wire".

The spring that you show in the Ford Blue paper looks correct. It doesn't look like the one in the first picture. (way to many coils in the first picture)
