Hey guys. Just want to introduce myself and jump right in with a question. I am restoring a 1970 Mach 1 SCJ with a Sept. 1969 build date. I was wanting to know what color the cowl brace on my car should be painted. Any help would be really appreciated. Included a pic of the brace in primer and my Marti. Thanks, guys!
Roger
Welcome . The Dearborn cars had the braces painted with a mixture all different color paints paint which is also referred to as batch paint or slop paint. It could be a number of different shades but typically Gray was the predominant color .. A medium to dark gray. Some have a greenish tint some have a bluish. You get the picture, many variations . If you don't have something to match up to NPD sells a convincing shade of slop paint in a spray can. FYI the battery tray, outside spring covers ,and the short front fender braces were also painted the same slop paint. FYI the caution fan sticker is not supposed to be there and is such a common mistake on a 69/70 cobrajet that it has become a joke among many. Please do yourself a favor and remove it . We look after each other around here
