69 FMX spline yoke shorter
« on: October 16, 2014, 04:47:50 AM »
Hi everyone,

due to some vibrations in my car, maybe driveline related, i want to try an aluminium driveshaft. I have changed the extension housing bushing and the u-joints of my original driveshaft, but no change. The original driveshaft was balanced also.
Now i ordered an aluminium driveshaft, but the spline yoke is shorter. Both, my original and the new one, are 31 spline yokes.
The barrel length of the new one is 1 9/16" shorter but the splines are continious through the barrel. In my original yoke the splines start about  9/16" inside the barrel. So the total difference of the spline lenght is 1".
Does this matter or ok to install? My original spline yoke has some scoring and i dont want to use it with my new bushing.
I dont want to start a discussion where the vibrations come from. I just want to try an aluminium shaft and see if there is a change in vibrations.

Thanks

greets

Christopher

Beleive it will be ok - as long as the driveline is the same length as the original one

Good luck with the search of the cause
