Paint on inside of 65' air cleaner
« on: October 10, 2014, 12:09:40 AM »
1. Is there documentation showing the inside of a 65' 289 air cleaner being of slop grey or some variation as opposed to the exterior being gold.

2. I am in the process of painting air cleaner and valve covers. Is the Duplicolor paint code (in the mustang monthly article) a good choice for the right color? In other words has someone else used the Duplicolor products with good results?

65-66 air cleaners were bare metal inside, top and bottom with just a little overspray .

Is the snorkel bare metal inside as well being that it came from a different supplier?

Original snorkels I've seen look like they were dipped, so there would be paint inside.

Thanks guys for the info. I guess I missed the part about the bottom of the lid as well? Bare or painted gold?

Underside of lid would be bare
The lid must have been placed on something that elevated it a little as you will find some gold overspray on the underside of the lid when the edges were shot
Snorkel was dipped you will find a build up of paint at the points where the excess dripped off
