1966 Harmonic Balancer Finish
« on: August 29, 2014, 01:16:25 PM »
First week of December 1965 engine build:  The rules state:  "Harmonic Balancer may be block color, black, or natural."  However, is there a more acceptable answer?  Do you find that more are black, or engine color, or natural? Which would be the best way to go on this one for a December, week 1, 1965 engine build?  Thanks!

Black is by far the most typical we see, but have seen a lot of natural ones too.  Unless you have convincing proof that yours was natural or other cars built around the same time, I would lean towards black.  Mainly because it's easier to maintain.

Semi-gloss black faded to bare around the center front where the pulley and mounting bolt attaches if you look at the factory pictures and even service replacements IMHO. Some factory pictures look as if the face (mounting face for the pulley ) was machined bare after painting

All semi-gloss will likely work if you go that route - hard to see the center ones the pulleys and the engine is installed in the car
