Topic: Is this spare tire mount unusual?

Has anyone seen a spare tire mount like the one below with the extra plate?  This one is out of my 67 Metuchen S code.  The extra plate appears to be brazed to the trunk drop off and arc welded to the back side of tire mount.  Additionally there appears to be a small amount of an adhesive or a porous pad between the two pieces of metal.  The Dark Moss Green appears to be original.

I am wondering if I should transfer the assembly to the new trunk floor or just the mount.  Your insight is appreciated.

I've never seen it, but work mostly on Dearborn and San Jose variants.  Is 4/25/67 the build date or scheduled date?

For the different style shown in the second picture, I have identified as a Metuchen fastback A code, but no full VIN unfortunately.

The third picture appears to be what you have.  That is from:
7T03T222567

It is interesting that 222567 appears to have a modified version, but 263413 has the older style.

Unfortunately most of my pictures, especially low mile unrestored cars, still have the spare tires installed.

Maybe others can add to this post and we can figure out what went on.

Did find the added support plate on late San Jose  (so far 221-230xxx cars) and Dearborn  (found one on 1966xx)  Sure the change over period is different than just these points - didn't do a full survey at this point though I likely should
