Tranny Tunnel Holes - Oct 64 SJ
« on: July 31, 2014, 07:33:39 PM »
Anyone know what these holes are for?  Maybe 3/4" in diameter.  One on each side of the tunnel at the toe board seam with the floor.  Not sure if they are original.  The smaller screw holes between them were for a console I assume.

Oct 64 SJ Hipo Fastback.

Possibly a previous installation of an incorrect Ford underdash AC.  One of the 65 units from another model from Ford had a drain holes on each end of the lower case.   Just a guess on my part.

The one on the left looks like the speedo cable hole for a 4sp.  The one on the right looks like one made by previous owner for A/C.

The 4 speed cable hole is farther up, as shown in this pic.  It did have a dealer type installed AC unit in it.  Inside evaporator unit was real Ford 66 model with one drain, but the brackets were aftermarket, so assume the right hand hole at least was for AC drain.

Just making sure they weren't supposed to be there before they get welded up.  Any other ideas let me know.

Ahh, got the orientation wrong for the speedo cable, you are right that it's the one further up.  So, looks like those holes were made later for a/c.
