Topic: Shock Absorbers - 66 GT

Hi All

Can any tell me who made the front & rear shock absorbers for a 66 GT Convertible with a C 4 & GT Coupe 4 speed and the part numbers for them.  Both cars were built in San Jose and if anyone has some photos that would be great.

Believe Gabriel was the out side suppliers though you will not find their name stamped on the exterior of a 65-66 Mustang shock (except possibly some export applications)  Garbriel had a number of plants so the exact look of the shock and features can vary between where they were made and what Gabriel plant supplied which assembly plant

While your aasking might want to see the engineering numbers for each since part numbers would only be for cataloging and on a box

Checked the oldest MPC I've but by early 1968 their already listing just service replacement shocks it appears including the AUto-Flex

For all applications all they show is one for K codes and one for everything (V8 and 6 cylinders) 

Think your going to need access to a 66 MPC

Might be a Quick manual around here someplace from 66 - will see if I can locate that thing

image attached of the rear shocks I took from my unrestored 66 gt convertible. DECEMBER 65 build date SJ, Though assembly plant isn't not relevant in this topic

Front shocks from this car where marked C5ZF-18045-B with a date code of P5LC.

NOS shocks now a days are hard to come by and to get correct stampings with date code correct examples your best bet will be used originals... what build date are you looking to find

have images of many pairs of used and NOS shocks I have collected.

May need to keep the project moving to settle (for the moment) on close looking shocks that can be easily replaced at a later date with the correct ones once found

Just need to find some used correctly shaped front and rears, Remove the markings and refinish them. At least they will be the original color, shape and not have markings and names that indicate whey they once were

The vehilces I am talking about are Oct 65 & Jan 66 built.  How much are you wanting for them in AUD.
