Were the battery trays the same between these 2 years?  How can you tell the diff between original trays?

Yes, they were the same.  There were 2 size clamps used for the 2 different batteries used those years.

Originals have a date stamp in them, like original fenders and other sheet metal parts.  The date stamp is typically found on the bottom section.
