Early Dearborn Mustang Bumper Bolt Washers
« on: June 28, 2014, 10:30:52 AM »
Anyone made an observation on the rear bumper bolts on early car? When I took my car apart the rear bumper bolts didn't have the large cadium washer with sealer on them.My bolts had much smaller flat washer and lock washer on each bolt. The rear brackets had green paint marks on backside of them also so guess what I'm asking anyone else seen this configuration? My bumpers are still original date coded also that looks like a stamp or something on inside also.Car is 7/64 Dearborn car as I know that's question is coming.

If you are talking about the bolts that hold the rear bumper bracket to the body, yes, I have seen those style on earlier production cars.

Here are the ones from my June '64 Dearborn Coupe:

All of the early Dearborn cars built around this time that I have observed have bolts plated like this.  Looks like cadmium, maybe zinc...either way, silver.
