Some interior original 1968 coupe pics
« on: June 02, 2014, 02:35:02 PM »
Just thought I would add these for viewing pleasure and perhaps discussion. I mainly have 64 1/2 - 67 Mustangs but have been asked to help my brother-in-law's friend with his 68' coupe. The car was originally a 6 cyl but now houses a late model 5.0 roller, t-5, and 8" rear. The good thing is that the car has been unmolested otherwise and might benefit some concourse hobbyist' with the seam sealer shots, etc.. . I am attaching some pics of under the back seat from a recent rear shock change and hope to have some good pics of the trunk area as well. One pic is from under the pass. side dash, all original except for pastic ties on the antenna cable. The car still has the original carpet and the underlayment has never been touched. I don't think anyone could benefit from anything else on the car since it's been altered from original (including one repaint). I have yet to have worked on such an "untouched " Mustang and thought others in my position would appreciate. I will also be posting the VIN/car tag i.d., etc. soon for reference. This guy is the second owner and the car still has it's "possibly"- original diecast dealer insignia.. apparently from Kansas?   Cool.

Yes! missed that one.   Any idea what the red "S" ,(looks to be an "S"), stands for above the shock access holes??? I have never seen that before and since the felt material behind the seat and covering the area between the trunk compartment and interior was still present/looked undisturbed, I'm guessing the mark was factory?? Perhaps a check the shocks were finished/tightened??? Curious ???

Might be another installers number - like the headliner number we see written on the floor area in 67-68 at San Jose.  Might be a poorly applied "5"

Just a possibility
