69 radiator support to hood weatherstrip
« on: June 03, 2014, 12:31:39 PM »
Dear all,

yes again the question about the radiator support to hood rubber. I always read that only 6 cylinders and big block mustangs had this.
My car is a july 1969 Metuchen built 351W-2V car with AC and power steering. Im not sure if i need this or if it was installed originally.

Thanks for help

greets

Christopher

First question should be - Does your car still have its original radiator support panel?

Are there any visible screw or staple holes across the top lip that might indicate that it had a hood to radiator support seal?

Would not expect that you will find any evidence that your car ever had the seal ;)

No signs of holes or even scratches. Looks original.

Thank you

Did run across a fairly early 69 351 W with AC at the Resto-Mod shop today that did how signs of having a seal. Would have to see more examples that way (will keep an eye open for more) but its a different plant though wanted to mention it for other readers

Also for the benefit of other readers, my San Jose 351W M Code (Oct 18, 68) Mach1 has the hood to radiator support seal.  This appears to be the original seal still held in by four of its five staples.

Cheers,
Tony
