64 1/2 Convertible bows and frame paint
« on: March 19, 2021, 09:27:48 PM »
It looks like the top bows are more of a satin black than a semigloss black.  I have two 64 1/2 Dearborn cars June 64 build that are like this.  The front weatherstrip metal insert is also satin.  (Note: when I say satin, I mean along the lines of what the dash and door skins are painted on the car with black interior). I also have a SJ car, July 64 build, but the bows are shinier (semigloss).  Incidentally, the period parts book indicates that the weatherstrip metal insert is color keyed to the top color.

The metal listing strips inside the bows are semigloss and are much shinier.  I would also say that the rear folding assembly is semigloss.

The paint is in great shape on one of the Dearborn cars and I was intending to leaving as is, but was curious if others have observed this.

Seeing as the bows were not painted with the frame sides as an assembly, this is possible.
